I just got a new dat about a week ago but im trying to get him to eat freeze dried krill and shrimp but he doesnt want to even try it...sooo how can i get him to eat these foods?? Hes about a 5 inch widebar btw...

nothin a lil starvation can't handle. don't give in because he will see the process and know, if he just holds off for a few more days that you'll give in.

throw in another dat that eats well, and he'll show the other dat how ot eat... worked for my little guy.. i added a new dat like 5" and he loves worms, now my lil guy loves em too....

I love my black sand with a white bag mixed in with my dats for substrate..

I definatley agree with ethnics; I did the starvation method with mine. I few times I gave in until I got fed up and decided to just starved them, and sure enough the finally took it. I would say at 5" is a good time to start. I've heard that it is more difficult to get them off of prepared food the old/bigger they get. GOOD LUCK

Mine eats dried krill occasionally, but definitely prefers frozen.

I heard the older ones are harder to get to eat dead. Was he being feed live before you got him?

He was being fed market shrimp but i dont know of any places that have some good market shrimp...most of my fish eat f/d krill, f/d shrimp, and frozen krill...

Thanks for the replys everyone ill go and try these methods...when i first got him he wouldnt eat so i put some feeders in and he ate those but now i want to get him on wat my other fish are eating so no more feeders!!!

I'm not sure about krill, but I feed ALL my fish market shrimp, including datnoids.

For new fishes, I usually beef them up with live blackworms for a week or so then starve until they start eating the shrimp.
