Where the cheeseheads are..
I'm still having trouble with my male leo's appetite.
I've separated him from the female, thinking that she might be over aggresive towards him. I've put the female inside a pearls comm .
I do see some bite marks on the pearls now ,a chunk bitten off here and there, they were peacefully towards each other for long enuff , so there's a big chance this is the female leo doin.
But my male leo doesnt have any bite marks on him.
And once the female leo entered the comm, she was eating A LOT MORE...
and the male eating even less.....

I got six rays now,all with same water params, food , and this guy is the only one with the attitude, others are simply fat and active.

Would you agree if I take this next step? Getting the male leo into the comm tank as well? See if he can learn to eat more from the competition?

I've tried the rest, boosting temp to 84, keepin room dark, switching to blackworms.. i'm sad to see them not workin..

And also, I have a pH problem. Tap water is 8.0 here.
But their tank's pH keep droppin ...
I managed to keep a 6.5-7.5 by doin daily WC 20%.
(7.5 after WC in the morning, 6.5 shows on meter at night, WC again next morning to reach 7.5, and so on)
I've done my reading on threads and I do know that fluctuations aint good for the rays. But I skipped WC for a few days and pH dropped to 4.5 one day...
So, here are my options,
1. take out all my filter and wash em
2. addin a bit of crushed coral in the filter, until pH stabilizes
3. nothing, just keep daily WC like this

Which one would you approve guys?

thanks!

Why is your PH dropping???? How long have you had the male LEO???? May take up to a month or so for him to get his appetite.

I dont use RO anymore, straight from tap all the way..
I do age them in some big buckets first for 2 days..
Leos have been with me for 2 months.. only the male having trouble eating, others are doin really well i think

Add the crushed coral to the filter.
I would also try the male in with the pearls and keep the female in the seperate tank for awhile.
Your right competition can make a healthy ray eat more.
You could also add a buffering agent to your aged water as soon as it comes out of the tap
