So I brought home my new Delhizi yesterday, at about 4 inches. He still has a small portion of external gill sticking out, so he is relatively young. I find it funny that my 2.5 inch senegal has no external gills, but this guy, probably three times his weight, does. Yesterday he wouldn't eat frozen blood worms or brineshrimps, which is expected but I still hoped. Today he wouldn't eat earthworm pieces which is also expected so soon after arriving. However just now I tried a cichlid bio-gold pellet just to see what he does, and he ate it and loved it! This poly is reverse of most, he needs to be trained to eat live/frozen/meaty foods, and needs to be weened off pellets! haha jk.I will probably get some Masivore and Sinking carnivor pellets, and maybe some NLS if I can find it. Also I apoligize for the aquascape, he is just putting on an inch or two in a grow out before he goes in with my Sen.

Now some Pics!

nice!

Yeah I saw yours oscarbichir he has really nice color! Does your have little nubs of external gill hanging out. This is one reason I love bichirs, they are attractive and interesting at all sizes, don't need to "grow" them out to enjoy them.

no mine doesnt have any nubs. he is doing great getting along with everyone and eating well he is pretty active swims around alot.he is not shy at all it lets me put the food right in front of it's face with my hand. how is yours doing

Yeah it's weird how some polys would rather eat pellets than worms. Some of my bichirs were the same way. I think that maybe it's because some brands of pellets smell much stronger than worms and it triggers their feeding instincts more. Maybe if the worms were those garlic scented ones the polys would be more into them.
