hi all i just bought me a new dinosaur eels from the lfs he is about 3" at most pretty tiny i have him in a grow out tank right now that is 20 gal but will later be put in my 55 gal here is my question tho in my 55 gal i have some serpea tertas already and im worried that once my eels is grown he will take them out wat im hoping for is that i can maybe plump them up in the next couple of months and he wont be able to take them out what do you guys think ??? the other fish in my tank are way to big i have 2 gouramis a tinfoil barb an irridescent shark and 2 male convicts and a parrot the only small ones are the serpea tetras any suggesatiopns would be nice i dont want to put them in my 20 gal because its my goldfish tank and it just wouldnt look right or be healthy i just have my eel in there for a grow out not for life thanks in advance

A) its a Polypterus senegalus not an eel as a species its actually older than eels
b) it depends on the agression level of the poly remember while generally a non-agressive predator i have seen a few the were just dog mean and would tolerate no tankmates
c) you planning on a much bigger tank than a 55 soon.Because the adult sizes of some of those fish are impressive and either you need a much bigger tank or you
need to thin your stocking -Anne

how fast is there growth rate ???? so i have to understand that im going to have to wait and see there temparment various ? and wats the proper size tank for them ? also another question down the road i was thinking of getting a fire eel can i mix them or would you not recommend that ??

i'd recomend if your gonna keep what you have get a way bigger tank that irridescent shark can easily reach 2-3 feet by itself. the parrot just under a foot
adult size.the Polypterus senegal right around a foot adult size-Anne

about like a 125 ??? or is a 75 a good size ?
and wat do you think about mixing a tiretrack or fire eel with the Polypterus senegal

get rid of the irridescent shark and a 125 would be fine-Anne

and yes either eel should in theory be ok

No NEVER do what uting said.
Note: ALWAYS RESEARCH FIRST THEN BUY THE FISH!

The sen is probably going to begin shredding the fins of your goldfish in the 20g.

If you're lucky and it doesn't, it will eat the serpae tetras eventually.

Jakob is right, always research first.
