I was in a new LFS last weekend and found a tank with all wild caught Tefe Green Discus and couldn't stop thinking about them so I ended up buying 2. They have been in a planted 50 hex for almost a week now with no issues. I am doing 25% water changes every other day and am almost possitive that I choose a pair. They are together all the time and I haven't witnessed any aggression between them so far. I spent over an hour at the LFS observing them prior to buying because I really wanted a pair and I think I may have lucked out. Anyway the 50 hex was supposed to be a quarintine tank with them eventually going into a 55 but they seem to really like the tank so I'm thinking I should just leave them alone. They are between 3 and 4 inches so getting close to breeding size and they are very active and eat very well. Oh, the 50 hex is very tall at 36 inches so I'm thinking this could be a permenent home for them but wanted some feedback from some of the experts. No tankmates.

the tank should be fine, but you must realize that wilds are very hard to breed. usually it's a wild with a domestic. domestics can breed in almost any water but wilds need low ph soft water. I have 8 wilds in my 120 gal. all close to adult size. my ph is 7.6 but it's a show tank. not interested in breeding. not saying it can't be done. just don't get your hopes too high. I would get 4 more and use a larger tank. imo they are the most beautiful discus but usually for show. good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think I want to get more at this time. Over time I may get more but right now they seem happy and the tank is beautiful and I'm very excited about having them. The colors are amazing and I quess I was wondering if the 2 would be set in this tank, at least for awhile. I've never really been able to keep anything in this tank due to its heigth but the Discus seem like a good enough fit.
