My girlfriend just recently got three discus. when we were at the store, all the discus were perfectly healthy. then when we put the new discus into the tank, ate live bloodworms. everything was going fine until an hour later when all three discus:
hid the corner
  1. clamp fins
  2. breathing hard
  3. excesive muscus on body, white muscus all over body
  4. darkening of body
  5. not eating
pH is 7.8, 60 gallon, no tankmates, 82F, all stats are exactly zero, tank has been up for a month

Raise the temp and put some melafix in and have they got any cover and dither fish help,i cant remembwer if salt is good for discus or not the mrs looks after them now il ask her.
Good luck.

Steve

Your ph is a bit high too,i try to keep ours below 7.

People keep and raise discus in various PH levels without any problem. But your problem may be the PH difference from the old tank they were keep in to your tank. Discus are very sensitive to water parameters, even a .3 PH change can stress discus. The PH change is the only thing I could of stressing your fish out if your parameters are good.....

What was the ph in the tank the fish came from? It sounds like it could ozmotic shock. A difference of as little as .5 can cause a serious effect on fish. If the ph at the lfs was 6.8 and you dumped them into 7.8 it can kill them. Discus can be acclamated to different a different ph over time by slowley adding some tank water to the bag as it's floted to acclamate to the temp but it should be done of a few hours and only for about a .5 change in ph. Discus really need a more acidic water than what you have to thrive at least 7 or less for most tank raised fish.
