Don't know what really happened. Air and water were sufficient, only 3-hour drive exactly, and acclimation was done. (A 2.5" NTT was transported the same way, but still swimming this morning.) After putting this distichodus in the tank, I immediately noticed that its eyes were either blind or extremely cloudy, but it was still swimming. 30 minutes later my kids found it darting around (scaring them big time) and then belly up soon after. 11" with nice coloring. Bought from another fellow MFK'er.

I'm sorry for your loss. That's a nice one.

I didn't think so because I trusted the seller. However, it was already in a bucket when I got there and then got transferred to my big styrofoam box so I couldn't really tell for sure on its condition. Thanks for the bump reminding me about the bad experience :)

And the bad luck continued... Last Saturday, I decided to move my 2x bigger clown loaches (5.5" and 6.6") to my 180g to be with 2x 10" IT datnoides and 5x redhooks. 15 minutes later I heard a couple of pounding noises/splashes then to find out one is dead floating on water surface and one on the floor also dead. No sight of aggressive behaviors from the dats or redhooks before the loaches decided to jump for the deaths. I'd raised them from 2".

Sucks to see your fish die :(

same thing happened to me a while back when i bought the nicest NTT ive ever seen. fine at the store, fine on the way home, once in the tank, eyes got cloudy and died in less that 30 min. sorry for your loss.
