Picked this (Female from what i've gathered) up yesterday for $15. Shes about 4" and currently has a 75g to herself. Couple of questions though. Is this a female like i think it is? Its color is still washed out from settling in i think. Is there anyway to tell which region its from? (Costa Rican, Honduran, etc.). I really wanted a male for color and attitude purposes but I think I like the idea of a female because I read that their max size is around 15"? This is also probably a common question but are there any tankmates that have worked for any of you guys (I know it usually depends on the individual)? Shes going in my living room once we move on sunday and I want sort of an interactive fish thats doesnt hide and sit around all day, will she fit the bill? Sorry for all of the questions, this is my first dovii. I've been out of large cichlids for about a year since my red devil pair kept trying to kill each other and everything, i was just fed up with it. Anyways, thanks ahead of time!

I forgot the pics. Another question is diet. So far ive been feeding her cichlid gold, cichlid staple and floating carnisticks. Is there anything else I should add? My ph is 7.6 for now (Not sure at the new house) and the temp is at 80*Screenshot_2015-09-21-18-23-01.png Screenshot_2015-09-21-18-24-26.png Screenshot_2015-09-21-18-25-59.png Screenshot_2015-09-21-18-27-06.png

A nice staple quality pellet will work and clean water. Females are not much better than males temperament wise and will shred most tankmates. My female outgrew her 75, but that took yrs. They are a lot more manageable than a male as far as space requirements and have nice colors.

I don't see any spots on the unpaired fins so I think you have a female as well. Dovii are also very interactive I think you will be happy

good looking girl, I agree with pyru, for region this more than likes not possible to say as more than likes tank bread. only sure way to know this is by buying from a reputable dealer such as rapps. and cost quite a bit more than 15 bucks. not get me wrong good looking little Dovii. :)

Nice dovii. Just leave her be...i think tank mates would just end up being a headache

Thanks everyone. There are a couple local breeders here with WC pairs but this could be like an f3 or f4 lol. I will keep her solo then if that will be better.

more than welcome. FYI there is no F2 or F3 just F1 but def get what you are saying. My jags are wild caught, female Honduras. male nger, so spawn F1? yup. but not region specific.

not looking to make you feel dumb. We live and we learn, no shame in that, :)
