what a steal 1-1.5" ebjd for just $15, got 2 thinkin bout nother 1

will post pics

FYI saw white stringy poop so dose of prazi pro

any tips for a new ebjd owner?

whats the avg lifespan, if its 1-1.5" how long till its 3" (25% wc weekly, daily 3x feedin tetra color bits, 82F, 60g), also is bloat something i should worry bout?

They are prone to parasitic infection until they reach sexual maturity...

White stringy poo is a sign of internal parasites...

I use UV lights to prevent parasites... If signs of infection are seen, treating as directed with a parasite product sooner rather than later will help... I've heard good things about Jungle Parasite Clear, but have no experience with this or any other parasite products.

They grow fairly slow when they are tiny babies... they are unlikely to keep up with the fastest growing standard Dempseys, but don't necessarily grow real slow...

I cannot comment on their overall lifespan, but I know of no reasons why they shouldn't live as long as a typical Dempsey. My oldest one is a bit under 4 years old, is 9" long, very beefy, actively breeds and can compete with other Cichlids just like I would expect a standard Dempsey of his age/size to...

is it ok if I get another one, makin it a total of 3 ebjd? will the other two pick on the third one?

I've grown out both large and small groups of Blue Dempseys together with few issues. Every once in a while I've gotten one that grows faster and starts problems, but it's not very common.

Once they reach sexual maturity, I would not expect them to coexist peacefully. It's possible they will... and it's possible you will end up with a pair... but we shouldn't expect to get that lucky.

Blue Dempseys are one of the few fish I freely suggest buying with the option of reselling when they get bigger. Most adult Cichlids are harder to rehome than young ones as most people want to raise them from small sizes. But Adult and even Young Adult Blue dempseys are still hard to come by so they hold their value and desirability.

for $15 a piece, its a steal so I got another ebjd, makin it a total of 3!!!
the pics r of the same guy, the other two hid under my driftwoods, its a 60g with 8 clown loaches
