I was at the LFS and was looking at the new Ebo Jager 300w heaters they have now. this is the first time in north america that they have offered a 300w size. its massive though. 20" long I believe.

they claim super efficient heat transfer and rate the heater for up to 265g tanks which I found rather surprising.

anyone tried these yet? just curious.

20"??? That's HUGE!

Ebo is back? We only have Eheim -Jager around here...

I didn't buy this so I checked and they do indeed rate it at that, which is very surprising.

In case anyone else wants to see the rating.

I'd like to know how often it has to stay on to heat a 265g to 10° above room temp.

They are rated up to 265 gallons (1000 litres) @ 75.2 degrees F.

At ambient room temperatures below this you will have to adjust accordingly. From my usage ambient temperatures below 60 degrees F, required the use of an additional heater to hold consistent temperature.

Mine came in today. It's huge and nicely built!

I saw this a few weeks ago too and i happened to be in the market for a new heater after my marineland stealths fried my tank so i picked up one of these and i love this little beast :). It keeps my tank at exactly 80f (thats what it's set to). It is rather large being 20" long so i had to place it diagonally in my sump but so far it's been working great.

Keeps my 150 gallon tank at exactly what it's set to (although the room dosen't usualy drop below 68f).

its funny, my LFS has always said that Ebo's 'run hot' meaning that their 200w is more efficient at heating than say, another manufacturers 200w and as such could be used to run a larger volume of water.

I would agree with your lfs. I heat a 180 with a 40 gallon sump with 2 125 watt jagers all year around with the tank in my house. I also have a 300 watt fluval heater that can't keep a 100 gallon tank 8 degrees above room temp.
