I bought this little guy on an impulse... Its a bad habit of mine, I was suppose to be Christmas shopping, but opps! I'm not to familiar with picking out jags but this guy was right at the front of the tank greeting me and had the darkest markings, it was hard to get a good side view picture because he was constantly staring at me! He's only about an an inch and a half. My GT doesn't mind him at all sometimes she lets the little guy sleep in her cave with her. So you think its going to be a good looking fish or is it hard to tell till its older? Oh yeah, I have a really crappy camera, so sorry!

You do know he is going to out grow that 50g? ( I assume that is where he ended up)

This might not be a good long term situation for your new monster!

Oh yeah hes definitely getting a bigger tank, both of them! I already have a 250, just now where to put it... I'm working on finding a bigger house. If I set it up, I'd literally have to swim to my bedroom!

Right now hes in a 55g, and he eats like a little pig! I threw in a few african cichlid fry and they didn't even have a chance to get to the bottom! I'm excited hes going to be monster. Does anyone know of a way to sex them when their young? Or do you just have to wait till they have some size, venting maybe? And whats their growth rate? I've got the bigger tank its just a matter of me moving into a bigger house.

Nice Jag. Youpretty much ahve to wait until they get a bit bigger. You start seeing signs by about 4", but 5-6" would be a good ballpark.
