In the water
I just got my first eel about a week and a hafe ago. I feed my other fish gold fish after I put him in the tank. He would not eat them dead or alive. Today I put in golfish, little tiny minnows, and some brine shrimp. He did not seem to be intersted in them. The eel is very active at night and swims up and down the tank. I forgot what kind he is but he's black with tiny yellow spots on his side. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Can you post a pic of it? It sounds like what you're describing might be a fire eel, but I'll need a pic to know for sure. Also, how big is it, and what size tank is it in?

btw, goldfish should not be used as fish food imo, using feeders presents a high risk of disease and parasites being introduced into your aquarium. The only feeders I would ever use would be fish that I bred myself.

To post a pic, go to the reply page, and click on the paperclip icon, which is above the area you type your post in; that will bring you to the attatchments page, from there, click browse and find the picture on your computer and double click it (it should appear in the white space), then click upload.

Anyway, is it a true eel or a spiny eel? I don't know too much about the care of true eels, but if it is a spiny eel, then you should try feeding it krill, shrimp, or some kind of worms (earth worms, bloodworms, nightcrawlers, etc. will work).
