Hello!
I just got three eels. 2 yellowtail and one peacock eel. I started them out in a community tank of barbs, loaches, convict ciclid. Barebottom tank with a few hiding ornaments and live floating plants
I started noticing the smaller (eliot)yellowtail's eyes became milky white and wasnt eating.
The larger yellowtail(Margo) has eaten and seems healthy.
The peacock eel (Iris) is hand feeding already. But they hide all day and night. So i bought them a new 40 gallon long breeder tank for just the eels.
I did the transfer today and noticed the peacock eel Iris was shedding its **** under his chin. No milky eyes, still clear. I thought i almost lost Eliot the smaller yellow tail. He was lodged in the hollow space of a ornamental plastic piece and flopped out onto my counter unexpectedly. I rushed him to the new tank.
The new tank is awesome has sand in it for them and nice hiding spots. A little rocky start.
Does anyone know what the skin peeling is from and how to treat ?
Also what is the milky eyes from?
This is my first time having eels and Its tricky to find information online as there isnt much to go on.
They seem happier in the new tank, less competition, sand to burrow, no aggressive convict ciclides to ram about.
