Depending on where you get them from, will decide on what they're capable of eating atm. Mine when they were small the guy said beefheart flakes. Well guess what there isn't any from my fish stores locally. So i fed them frozen bloods and brine, till they were large enough to accept pellets. If i didn't do that i'm pretty positive at two inches they would've just starved. Electrics from my experience, would have to be taught to eat different types at a very young age. Even then it's tough.
