i bought a 2.5 to 3 inch endli today from lfs. i just wanted to find out some info on him. do i feed him twice a day? what is the best thing for him to eat?

I wouldn't feed him twice a day, once a day should be enough. I feed my bichir's blood worms I'm sure you can find them at most lfs.

the best thing to feed it is, pellets. however, variety is key! some other things u can feed as well include:

-prawn
-tilapia
-earth worms
-silversides or lancefish
-mysis shrimp
-brine shrimp
-krill
-bloodworms
-tubifex worms
-squid

ur endi will probably not eat pellets right away. u will have to train it to recognize it as food. a method that has been very successful for me in the past; is to marinate the pellet in the bichirs favorite food. the scent of the favorite food will attract the bichirs attention and help it recognize that it is indeed food! also, be patient this may not work the very first time. make sure not to over feed. clean up any mess u make from the food left over.

heres a list of pellets u can feed:

-shrimp pellets
-worm pellets
-cichlid pellets i.e. Hikari cichlid gold.

my all time favorite pellet to feed is Hikari Massivore! my bichirs love it! - their diet is 80% this.

u can also feed:
-spirulina sticks
-brine shrimp sticks
-Algae wafers
-regualr wafers - i recently got my ray and bichirs eating this!

when will he be big enuff to start eating shrimp?

You can start feeding it with shrimps just cut it up to small pieces. Forget bloodworms, they lack nutritional value that your endli will need.

As for D12DetroitD12 smaller endli or any bichirs at 4" or under should be feed 3-2x a day. 2-1x a day when it get up to 6"+. 1x a day when it get up to 12"+.

What they said...also watch out for tank mates...mine has a taste for things that are much too large for its mouth...time for her to go back in time out :s

ok cool i just have him with a silver hes 2 inch.
i hope they dont fight or try to eat eachothers

today i was checking my little endli out and i notice that he has this film on the top of his body. Its also on his face it looks like a spider web. what can it be? is this normal?

sounds like its slime coat is peeling. check ur water parameters and do a water change. make sure to check ur water parameters first!!
you can try adding salt and raising the temperature after you've done all this^.

how long has the tank been set up for? did u cycle it?

yes the tanks been running for about a month, its cycled and i bought some of that tetra safe start. before i got new fish i did a water change, im sure my stuffs good but i will check
