Is there any way to be able to keep tropical catfish in outdoor ponds in New England? I thought about using a pond or hot tub heater, but it would cost a fortune! It's just such a shame that I have two, 1000 gal ponds (one with koi/comets) but that my poor catfish have to stay inside in the 180gal.

What's the average temperature of the pond? You might be able to get away with it in the summer, but you would have to bring him in before it gets too cold.
When I worked at a pet store in high school and college, my boss built a green house around his pond and heated it. He was able to keep fish and even anoles in there over the winter. It cost him over $2,000 to heat it in the winter months and cooler spring/fall...YIKES!!!
