I got a baby fahaka puffer 2 weeks ago and it's eating fine. But the poop is coming out stringy. Should I be concerned about internal parasites? Any advice would be appreciaed. Fat Homer Fat Homer

I personally like to de-worm all new puffers after they settle into the tank...

But if the poo is white and stringy, or it looks like a loosely beaded necklace, i would definitey go through a round of doing meds to eradicate any possible Internal Parasites...

What do you recommend to use for deworming? I've never done it before.

Metro, prazi pro. I'd personally run metro first but Homer knows puffers better than me.

I'm not in the US, but from what i've heard from other puffer enthusiasts over there, Metro, Prazi Pro and Jungle Tabs (i think they are called) have all been used with success...

If in doubt, start with half dosage and see how your puffer reacts...

If your puffer is large enough to take larger meaty foods, you can even soak a little bit of food in the meds to ensure it gets inside their system...

I treat all my new fish with levamisole and prazi. I have not experienced any issues with treating new fish with these two drugs (not at the same time) and the worms that come out with some fish after treating with levamisole... wow. I got in a 5" datnoid recently, it was so nasty what came out of that poor fish.
