New Fahaka Puffer

I recently rescued a 12in fahaka from an awful environment. He was housed in a dirty 55 gal being fed feeder goldfish and freeze dried krill. I was actually surprised the gentleman was able to keep him alive for so long. So after a few weeks in his new 125 gal home he still doesn't seem to be eating much. Since he was used to feeders I threw in some 1in obs from my grow out tank so he'll maybe eat something. I've tried snails and raw shrimp but he doesn't pay any attention to them. Any other tips to entice him to eat, I really want to get him on a proper diet soon. Thanks in advance.uploadfromtaptalk1393193044076.jpg

My fahaka when I had him would go thru eating spurts I treated for worms, and would soak his food in garlic after a couple weeks he was fat I would go thru 2 crayfish a day towards the end I had him alone in my 200 gallon he was a big boy but towards the end wasn't as active as I was looking for but try deworming and try garlic

Also live craw fish got mine to eat I would just take off the claws and cut a slit in their tail so he could smell the flesh and they couldn't hide or hurt him

Puffers don't like change. Expect him to go through a "pouting" phase where he will not eat anything or be very active. After he settles in, he should warm up to you and also be open to more foods.
 
Mine wouldn't warm up for the longest time would just sit there for months then it hit me every week I did wc I would move around his tank I stopped moving his tank around and he came around give him time great fish

Here in AZ crawfish are illegal cause of some invasive species law. Plus you're not allowed to catch the ones who have already invaded due to fear of spreading...seems unnecessary since they are already in every water source. I'm going to try a few Asian markets to see what I can dig up.
