I just came into a new fahaka puffer, he's about 7-8 inches long.

I have raw shrimp and scallops at the moment and will be picking up clams on the half shell later today.

My questions is in regards to the shrimp. The shrimp I have still have their shell on (legs as well, everything but the heads). I've been removing the shell to feed some of my other fish, and I'm wondering if that is still necessary with a fahaka (it would include the tail as well)?

This is my first puffer and it kind of just fell into my lap, but my wife and I are super excited. Is their any other good food to try feeding him? I only ever really read clams, shrimp, and scallops. How would I best prepare them for additional nutrients (like a homemade garlic guard or something)?

Thanks.

Thank you. I knew they make additives but the closest place that would have any to me is 2 ours away (yay rural Alberta). I'll have to take a look and see if I can get any shipped.

Unfortunately he was fed feeder goldfish. I found out while the guy was bringing him to my house. He said he caught some for me as well. Opened the bucket and now realize I have about 20 1.5-2 inch goldfish, ugh. I do not want him eating them anymore, but I have no where to put them.

He is approximately 4 years old.

Get rid of the Goldfish because if they were not quarantined then you will putting your Fahaka health in danger. Actually the frozen raw shrimp, mussels, and live snails that have been quarantined will be my choice of foods.

Didn't even put them in the tank, left them in the bucket overnight and thankfully someone took them off my hands. Literally had no tank to put them into and I wasn't going to jeopardize my other fish.

Does anyone have experience using a vitamin supplement with these guys on a diet of raw shrimp, mussels, and scallops? Is it really worth doing?

I personally would use vitamin if I had fish that mostly ate raw seafood such as a puffer.
This what I have.Boyd Enterprises Vita-Chem Freshwater https://g.co/kgs/92Wxbn
