zz is Zhen Zou. There are different grades of ZZs, and yours is low grade. It doesn't matter that it is low grade though. I think it looks nice, and he will have the same awsome Flowerhorn personality as a high grade.

If you can post more pics, you will get some opinions on whether it's a male or female. Congrats on your first FH!

Hmm, you got any pics of the side shots? From those picture, I can almost say that it is a bonsai. But I will not confirm it until I see pics from the side. As determining if its a Red ZZ, I doubt that it is a Red ZZ. There is definitely something else in that fish, I need side shots of the fish if possible.

Its a little Red Dragon, gratz

Yeh. I was thinking same thing BIG_ONE. Looks like a bonzai from the pics to me. To the OP, bonzai just means its more or less a short body.

im taking pictures right now, too bad its just a phone cam, and the lil guy wont stop moving lol be real quick

okay here they are, im posting a few so i dont need to do it again

btw he turns dark when i tease him is that normal? but after a min or two he returns back to regular coloring

Ok I can now say for sure that he is a bonsai. I would ID it to be a red ZZ X Malau. And yes that is natural for FH. Sometimes they will go under stress for a few days. But don't worry about it, worry when they are not eating and is not active. Nice bonsai overall, I love it! :D
