Hello All, I recently purchased two SB FHs, for 16 bucks a piece at the pet store, and would like to know if their new digs is good enough for them. I know I broke the rule and have two in the same tank, but will separate them shortly... I have attached pics of the tank as well as the fish (best pics I have of them since they wouldn't hold still long enough :)) so, please let me know your honest opinion about the tank set up THANKS...

Look like Killin Parrots. From what I've read/ been told regarding FH, the tall tank you've got will be good for their head development and a bright colored environment will help their coloration. They may get along since IME parrots are not as aggro as FH.

Thanks for the info flowerpower... I did read after purchasing the fish that black rocks are not good for them, so I guess I'll be changing the rocks...

those look a lttle like kirin parrots but i could be wrong

I'm so confused LOL... The folks at the pet store just said they were Short Body FHs... So I'm googling kirin/killin parrots now for some clarification LOL... Thx

Okay I reffered to the Flowerhorn body types thread and the two I have look very similar to the pic under Short body FH....

Everything should be fine. Improvements could be made. I would personally suggest brighter colored or multicolored gravel, blue or multicolored background, more hiding places in case they get aggressive before you separate them. Everything else should be fine. Water is best kept between 82 and 88 degrees. PH 7.0 - 8.0. Water hard, but soft works. Just keep changing the water regularly and feeding their brains out and you should have some really sweet fish! IMO from what I can tell from your pictures is they are Bonsai or Short Body FH. Killin or Kirin Parrots will literally have the same deformed shape of blood parrots. I.e. Mouth that doesn't or barely closes, and the quite noticeable notch above the head. Bonsai or SB FH will look like a typical FH that has had about half their spine removed.:D Good luck with the fish. Thanks for sharing and keep us updated!
