Hello all,

After about a year hyatis I have gotten another FH. I have had several in the past. Every senerio from big male show peices to breeding pairs and my queston is what water qualitys should they have. Mainly PH and hardness. The reason i'm asking is for some reason the old addage of their just central american crosses is not holding true in my LFS. I know I should go with my gut but I wanted to ask some other FH keepers. Thanks all and here are some past FH photos that I have with new ones of the newest FH to follow in a few days when he gets to his final tank. A big old 125 gallon with 3 AC 500/110's on it and weekly 75% water changes and rainbows to chase for a while atleast.

1st 2 pics are of my big, 11", Female, at baby size, that is living with a freind and his male in texas, the 3 rd pic is of a pair i owned for a short time, and they bred at 2 1/2 " the first time, Pic4 is of the same fish in pic 1 and 2 pic at around 7", pic 5 and 7 are of a nice male I had from 2" until it was 8" he got a bubble in his eye at about 6" and it wouldn't go away, and last but not least pic 6 is of the same female from pic 1, 2, and 4 just at her final coloring she was about 10 months old in this pic and 10".

Hope you enjoy and any answers on the water values would be great. also pics of the newb FH will be coming shortly. like in the coming days.

Thanks David

Im not sure about hardness but pH these days depend on your fish. flowerhorns are picky. "Most" respond better to alkaline water, however I have had few that do best in brackish waters.

Thanks for the replies and for the compliments. But i'm still in the dark. I got one vote for med ph and one vote for alkiline or a higher ph. I don't know I geuss im just going to start out at around 7.0 and go up until I get the outcome I want withthis fish.

nice flowerhorns. I keeped and bred flowerhorn in the past, and I keep all my flowerhorn at 7.8 PH and water hardness: hard.

I only do 30% weekly water changed.
