In order to help me cycle my new tank for my silver aro I hooked my brand new AC 110 up to my 55 gal growout to cycle the filter. My arowana has been in there for a few months and I have always fed him on the right side of the tank.

Well my 55 has had a penguin bio wheel on it for a while on the left side (which is why he likes eatiing on the right side of the tank.) Any ways I put the AC on the right side which is the only place it would fit and as you can imagie with that big of a filter on that small of a tank its really moving the water and it seems that my aro hates it.

Now his feeding area is all like currenty :) if thats a word and he doesnt patrol the top anymore. I alsways hand feed him and he wont come close enough to the top to be fed. Hes always like an inch and a half down.

Now this is only temporary till I move him in like a week but i want him to eat and be happy til then. Will he get used to the filter?
is this normal?

he would probably will get used to it if he has no choice.
however u know aros are top dwelling fishes, u myt want to leave a spot when theres no current to enjoy its majestic swimming position! ;)

Once he gets used to the current he will come back up to the top. I have a 1800gph magdrive on my 150g that makes the surface look like white water rapids.
When I added a few new aros, they would swim lower in the tank or avoid the side with the water return all together.

It is only going to be a week so just hand feed him deep enough in the water. When you have a bigger tank use a dead spot. No problem.

move the AC110 to the front of the tank across from the other filter this way he'll still have calm water on the one side of the tank.

Just remember make sure no escape holes to jump through.
