Ok so I have my 125g that is almost done cycling. I started cycling it about three weeks ago but at the time all I had were two powerheads with sponge filters on them. I had my FX5 on order and the first one arrived broken and I had to send it back and get another one. I got the new one last night and got it all set up but how long will I have to wait to add some fish? The fish are currently in an established 55g so I can take some filter media from the old tank and put it in the FX5. Should I wait another week or do you think the old media and the two powerheads will work until the FX5 gets established? I'm probably only going to add one fish every 4 or 5 days until they are all transfered over. The stock is in my signaure.

Light feedings and close watch on water perimeters and you should be good to go.Just be ready to do water changes if necessary.

I would continue to run the filters you have in your 55g until the new fx5 is fully colonized with BB. Also use the substrate from your 55g. What you should have done was wait for your fx5 and run it in your 55g for a couple of weeks then transfer everything including fish to the 125g.

So how long would you give the FX5 to fully colonize? Keep in mind I'm putting two of the cartridges from one of my HOBS from the 55 inside the FX5.

Maybe a couple of weeks. Just continue to test your water for ammonia and nitrates for the next couple of weeks. Sounds like everything should be fine. I am transfering my brackish to my 135g this weekend. Cichlids went into 180g last night.:headbang2
