I currently have a 1000l tank and the filter system is not upto scratch... so im thinking rather than buying more and more filters why dont i just put in what i have in my pond outside (new of course - not used from the pond)

it would be a Blagdon force hybrid 16000 pump using a 15000 external canister filter :)

i already have a blagdon 24w UV filter on the tank so that would be incorporated as well! and i would be able to hide the Blagdon pump behind some decoration.

Thoughts? it would only cost around £250

No idea on the actual setup, but i would say make sure the pump output isnt too strong for your UV unit or it will cut down on its performance :)

Pond filters tend not to offer much by way of mechanical filtration, but 265 gallons isnt really a pond either. Simply adding some mechanical filter media may be all thats needed.

Without data on the system(U.S.) I couldn't comment. I would wonder how one would set it up, i.e, down tube, priming, return pump etc.
Never heard of the equipment you are talking about, but I have heard of people using pond rated equipment before...I have a pond rated UV sterilizer and it works awesome.

it is essentially a large pump that sits in the tank pumping out 15,500lph of water through 1.5 inch tubing down to a large uv - then from the uv goes into a large canister filter and then back into the tank. same way any external system works basically.

external tank filters normally have the pump in the canister its self - i have a fluval fx5 (self priming) and this works great... but the above would replace the pump in the canister by forcing the water from the pump its self that in the water. I currently have 2 of the above systems on my pond in the garden and the water is crystal clear.

Unless i read it wrong, normally you want to have the water from the tank go through the filter first, then the UV 2nd... Protects the UV bulb etc from getting damaged by possible debris :)

How quiet is it? Most pond pumps tend to be noisier than pumps designed for an aquarium.
