New Filter

I have a 10 gal that is established with a hang on filter. If I add another hang on, and keep the original one on the tank, how long would it take for the new filter to be full of bacteria.

when i switched filters i let them both run for about 2 weeks and everything was fine

when you change filter pads, on a hang-on, aren't you are throwing out the bacteria? Or are you talking about establishing a new bio-wheel on the new hang-on?
