I just recently got a 90 gallon set up that has an internal overflow and sump wet/dry. The setup is pretty nice but I was thinking of doing a planted tank and wet/dry filters really destroy the CO2 levels. So I am looking into other solutions. I am desiding between 2 XP3s, and fx5 or an Eheim 2028. All of these are about the same price in total so the cost is not the issue. I have used xp3's and they work great, how ever I was looking to maybe try something new. Obviously the FX5 has the Eheim for GPH, I am looking for one that has the least maintenance and easiest to maintain. If any one has used either one of these two let me know your thought, or if I should just stick to the xp3's.

Considering the same bio/plant load for the Eheim 2028 and the FX5, not having used either one I was wondering would you have to clean one more than the other, and would I need powerheads to help the lack of water movement with the Eheim 2028?

with the eheim you prolly would need powerheads my vote gos to fluval for the price and performance there the best bang for the buck

yeah for the fx5 go ebay like 210$ shipped
