I picked this guy up for the whopping sum of $5.00 yesterday. Although pretty thin, he has a great appetite and color. (Blame the camera for the bad picture) Well, he's eating NLS, flakes, freeze dried tubifix, and frozen mosquito larvae and bloodworms. Looks like a steal for $5, nice looking firemouth... get some frozen mysis shrimp and/or krill, bet he'd love both. Or try the emerald entree frozen cubes, comes in a green box... petco or petsmart has it. Has brine shrimp, krill, veggies, and some other good stuff in it.

He has started taking frozen mysis, emerald entree and glassworms too. He is about four inches including the tail. What's sad about this guy is that the store didn't even know they had him so I don't think he had eaten in quite a while. He's in my 125 with 6 F1 Rio Danli HRP's that I got from Rapps so I'm not too worried about him holding his own with anyone.

I love firemouths, but for some reason, have trouble keeping them alive in my 180g....Currently just picked up two...hoping they work out
 
Firemouths are up there with Oscars and Dempsey's for me. I've kept Rays, wild Angels, wild Discus, Reef Tanks, Apisto's etc... But... I always come back to Firemouths, Dempsey's and Oscars. I'm wish I hadn't gotten rid of the trio of F1's that I got from Rapps last year when I got the HRP's that I have. They were gorgeous.

That's exactly why I scooped him up. He is going to be gorgeous. My daughter is almost 2 and had claimed his as hers. All my fish are just fish. She has dubbed him to be Gato.
