This guy is named Spot (of course)! He's about three to three and half inches. We saw him in the LFS, and he ate there. I just had to have him -- he's so full and healthy-looking. The QT tank happened to be empty, so he's at home now! He's eating my special blend (various wet-frozen foods with Selcon and Garlic added) like a pig. I've got high hopes for this guy. :)

Good stuff man.

In a community of other fish I've found Copper band butterflies (also some longnose's) to be a little shy during feeding time, wanting to avoid the more boisterous feeders. To ensure that they get their fill, I "trained" them to eat from an empty shell. Their long nose enables them to reach into tiny crevices (like a hummingbird) so by putting a cube of frozen shrimp into the oppening of a shell I occasionally could target feed these fish, without the other fish ever really catching on to what it was doing.

But your's seems to be plump and eating well, so while you won't need to do this, I still thought I'd share.

Thanks for that great tip about feeding him. Yes, he is eating well, but that's in the QT... the guys in the 180 are really boisterous and crazy at feeding time, so I worry that he'll not do so will with eating there. So I will try that if I see any problem. He also eats slower than the other fish. He seems to like picking up food off of the bottom more than eating in the water, so that could be a problem -- I might find myself feeding more to make sure food reaches the bottom!

looks cool

Great looking fish. I wish I was brave enough to try Salt Water.

I've actually found it easier than FW. More expensive (that's why we've got 250 or so gallons of SW and 1500 gallons of so of FW!), but still easier. Live rock is amazing. We consistently have zero nitrate in our reef. Zero nitrate! Imagine if we could do the same in FW by just adding some rocks to the tank and moving water through them!

Thanks!

good luck copperband butterfly are great additions but need a lot of attention and a great mix of foods good luck.
