New Fish Acclimation

I’ve had this 1.5” Heros severus for a few days now and he has yet to accept the baby hikari floating gold I use as a staple food for the rest of the tank. Is it normal for it to take 3-4 days for it to accept the food? It ate frozen brine shrimp the day i got it, but i don’t want to keep feeding him that until he eats the pellets because then he would get to used to the brine shrimp and continue to spit the pellets. So I am starving him now in a way as I’ve only been feeding the pellets the last few days and he always spits. Do I just need to be patient or could something else be going on ?

It’s normal for fish to starve themselves before settling in and eating what is status quo in the tank. My latest addition took 7 full days to eat the staple food for the tank.

Did you buy him online and have him shipped or go to an LFS?

On ebay. I know ebays sketchy but they had like 2 negative reviews out of 500 something so I took the risk and everything went smooth. The seller was also very communicative

I’ve always had good luck on eBay except for a crappy Flowerhorn sold as an SRD. But ya, I always check the ratings
