I got him today, someone brought him back to my LFS and they quarantined him for me. I just got him a few hours ago, can anyone tell me about Butterkoferi?

Its a west african cichlid but is kept under similar condition as ca and sa cichlids , they grow to about 12 -14 inches and are very intelligent. I would not keep it with other cichlids. It might seem to get along with other cichlids and then it can quickly turn around. i would keep in a min. size tank of 75 gal , some people might say 55 gal . i say the bigger the better. They will kill other fish for no reason , will not bother real small fish as it doesn't see it as a threat. Mine would not eat feeders. i was thinking about trying to small tetra but thats just me. The tank mates that worked for me were a pike cichlid and a mosiac gar. I belive they worked due to they shape

Nice.... He has already moved all the rocks around and I dropped in a piece of krill and he went straight for my fingers. I'm liking this guy.

I have heard horror stories about the legendary aggression of this fish, up to and including the alleged death of a Peacock bass, but I do hope you enjoy your new find and stock tankmates carefully.

There was a article in last months tfh about it they are great fish!
