Pair of loiselli due tommorow from jeff rapps, TANGLED UP IN CICHLIDS, wild caught 7.5 in.male, 6in.,female. Goin in 180gal., current inhabitants ar 2-5in. tinfoil barbs, 1-4in. silver dollar, and 1- 8in. pleco. I have a 6-7in. female festae I want to put in also, what else if anything would you recommend??

You are looking at a very-soon to be huge fight with the festae with those two new guys. I wouldn't want my beautiful fish all torn up right after getting them. I'd reconsider.
In addition, I would manufacture little coffins for each of the other fish, except the pleco who may make it :)

well i would have to dissagree with santoury to some extent, though festae are somewhat aggresive, many esspetially females are not so much, i have a good feeling you will be able to house all those fish together, without extensive aggresion problems, until your pair of loiselli breed < then you may have some problems, belive me a have seen breeding pairs of parachromis, beat the liveing hell out of some fish, but overall loiselli are probably the least aggresive parachromis, so you really shouldn't have to worry about that to much, so overall, go for the female festae and the others together, but i persoanlly wouldn't add anything else to the tank.

I've kept both species, and what people seem to say about loiselli being not aggressive as compared to the others in the genus, I have found to be pretty untrue in the individuals I've kept. They "hang" just like jaguars - always bickering and fighting with each other, and tankmates. The same is true for the festae. But then again, that is my personal experience, and you are looking at introducing 2 or 3 adult fish into one tank, so their aggression won't get much displacement.

Just checking - have you positively ID'd the festae as a festae, as opposed to an urophthalmus? Uros are even more nasty than festae, I've found, also.

I imagine you're wanting to breed the Loisellei? If so I'd actually put them in a tank of their own. I don't think you want them in your community tank.

If it were my fish... the loisellei get the tank. Targets to keep the male busy while the female tends the eggs. IME Giant Danios are the best targets/dithers. The only guys that made it through my Mota breeding/keeping days alive...

oo thats sexy...i want some loiselli i have the freddies and doviis

yah, definately a festae, dont care for uros and have become apro at telling them apart thanks to these forums, yes Im hoping to breed the loiselli but am also hoping due to tank size they will pick a corner and let some others live as well, I know its a gamble .
