My discus died today after a strange few days and so I am looking for a fish that could spend it's whole life in a 29 or a 55 gallon aquarium. The fish in question must have a personality and can be solitary or schooling, peaceful or aggressive, whatever I just want a new fish that will hold the center of attention in my aquarium. Ideally it should be easy to moderate care and not that expensive, I don't feel ready to delve again into expensive fish for some time.

55 gallon: A single green terror, Parachromis friedrichsthalii or loisellei, green severum, or emerald cichlid would be nice. For the Parachromis species and the green terror, males might get a bit too large for a 55, though.
29: More limited, but Cryptoheros sajica might fit the bill.

Personally..... Id go community. Cheap and easy to maintain. A large school of neons in low ph is a site to see. Cory cats. marbled hatchet fish. Black background, driftwood, moss and plants here and there. Thats how what i did with my ex gfs 40gallon. Till this day she still has it and u lose urself in the tank. Lol

dwarf rainbow snakeheads are awesome if they are legal there? or go brackish and have a pair of archer fish? one breeding group of malawi or african maybe tropheus moorii or duboisi...? gulper cat if thats not too expensive... good luck.

Snakheads are most likely illegal but I can't be 100% sure as sometimes rules can be lenient.

I would prefer recommendations up to 25$ online
