New fish for a beginner

I need some advice from some people that are experienced in keeping lightning fast, giant teeth amazonian fish such as the Vampire Characin hydrolycus scomberoides that im getting this week. If you could give me some pointers on maybe keeping something like this happy or just tell me that im an idiot and there is no chance for me.

A tip I can offer...strong current. Load your tank with plenty of flow via powerheads and output nozzles. Well oxygenated water is the key to keeping these guys.

either african tiger fish or african pikes. african pike can only get up to 12" in aquarium thats what i heard from people.
