my wife gave me her 120gal salt she had damsel an clowns she sold the fish and I took the tank . last weekend I went to petco looking they hand the biggest green wolf eel -congrogadus subducens. I have ever seen in a store 16 inches long and 2 inches thick .and a large 10 inch orange and white toad fish Opsanus beta they are in ther new home now . but they were feed live food ghost shrimp and sand eels and damsels guppies and mollies .I WANT TO FEED THEM DEAD FOOD. IT IS HARD THEY LOOK AT IT AND SNUB THERE NOSES. and what other fish will go with them want 2 more maybe a dragon wrasse lg.and something else. what?

first thing, i never recommend buying any fish from Petco. they usually use copper and the fish are usualy in poor condition. you may want to look at a compatibiity table for fish and then decide if you want to go throught the trouble of live feeding.

What kinds of dead food have u tried?

mussels,clams,bloodworms,brine shrimp,frozen krill,silversides,smelt

If i were u and they were used to live feeding i would get a pack of smelt or silversides and get a piece of fishing line. Use a needle and thread the fishing line threw the fish meat of choice, and then dsiscard the needle, then use the string and move the fish meat around in front of the eel and other tankmates.. the movement may trick the fish into believing that its alive.

My uncle just put about 6 curly straws toegther and put a toothpick in the end and feeds his shark and snowflake clam off the feeding stick.

Hope this helps more then the previous answers. but i agree petco is not the best place to get fish, but you can always find a good fish at different places, maybe petco will get lkucky and get some great fish and u can get lucky and get great fish from them,

adding on to aquataholic's advice... if your presence during feeding when using the string method is disturbing the fish, try just dropping the dead food in the path of a water current. it should get the same effect. also, if you could get [dead] feeder fish with the eyes still in, it might make a difference because predators cue in on the eyes of prey to feed. good luck

Thanks guys I tried bothe Idea,s they work I used a piece of thread and used hole silversides and the wolf eel jumped at it ,then he came to the top and I put a piece of krill in the filter flow and he chased the krill and ate it the toad fish enjoys the sting but I have to feed him when the eel is stuffed I think I was just putting a little piece here and there and they did not no it was food maybe. I feed Sand Eels Silversides, Krill ,Clam Smelt and Mysis I do not like Petco either but thes were good stong health fish and the price was right and 15 day stay alive full refund .
