Got it from the lfs today, I remember its a type of "shark" but can't remember what the first part was lol

Looks like what I've seen labelled as variegated shark, Labeo cyclorhynchus.

pretty cool, never seen one of those before. does it eat algae?

Neither had I until today, it was an impulse buy but I trust the info I get from the guy at this lfs, yea algae and microscopic life on underwater surfaces is supposed to be the main part of their diet in the wild
