My 90 gal tank is still in process...need to do a bit more work with the sump and plumbing, and then I should be good to go.

In the meantime the fish that will end up in the 90 in a couple weeks are in my spare 29 gal tank which is serving as a quarantine for 3 Pictus catfish (~2") and my new cichlid, which I *think* is a Green Terror (Aequidens rivulatus)...was labelled as such and appeared to be one anyway. Hoping for a male, but at about 2" it may be too early to tell...

Any expert opinions regarding species or sex would be appreciated.

Also considering adding one other cichlid, possibly a salvini or JD, but am not sure how good of an idea that is. Most of my fish experience is with SA fish and planted tanks, so this is a new realm for me. Suggestions?

Thanks :)

that defiantly looks like a gt to me i think its still to small to sex but it might be like the jd where the male gets alot more color than the female

Although too early to tell for sure, I'd say based on those pictures you have a male GT.

i bet it's a guy- even though it is fairly young to sex. good luck with him and keep us updated.

Thanks for the info guys...I hope we are right! This guy is fearless...after acclimating him I put him in the 29 gal and after about 30 seconds of looking around he set up a territory and won't let anyone enter...then I dropped some food in and he was driving the pictus away from "his" food a minute after entering the tank :o

It's a GT and it's much too young to sex at only 2".

I realize it's too early to really know, but it's worth a shot. I measured him this morning through the glass (his territory is right next to the front of the tank) and I think he's actually closer to 3"

Regardless I tried to pick the one with the most iridescence and the pointiest anal fin (don't even know if the anal fin shape applies to them...was just trying to use the general cichlid rules).
