I have a senegal right now and he's about 4''. I would like to get one more tank mate for him then call it quits for a while. I'm thinking needlefish but I heard they're really hard to take care of. Senegals are pretty tough when it comes to water conditions from what I've seen of them. I might just get another bichir but I haven't seen any more in my lfs. Can places like petsmart order fish? The polypterus delhezi (amored bichir i believe) looks like a pretty sweet one:naughty: but I wouldn't know where to get it.

Any ideas? I'm on a college kid budget (my senegal was like $5) so keep that in mind:lol2:

tank size,
dimmensions.

btw if you stay in the thread you wont see the new posts, you have to leave and come back to see them.

order from online vendors here on mfk. but yeah, what is your tank size? You might wanna go for a palmas species (very active, look great) or a rope fish.

Right now I'll have a 36 x 12 x 16tall (30gal). Which I think will be fine for their early stages of life. I don't have a problem getting a larger tank down the road.

As for staying in the thread I just keep hitting refresh every time I walk by my laptop:D

Edit: it seems like buying from people online is awfully pricey....

where in Va are you?

Harrisonburg, VA - I go to JMU

Thanks for the link. I was looking at some of the compatible fish and I saw Plecos were listed. I read in a few places that they can sometimes suck on the bichirs and irritate them causing them stress... If not I might be interested in getting one of those guys cuz I always liked the one my mom had when I was growing up

oh, ive got such a great joke i could say right now, but it might be a little mean.

whatever, youve probably heard it anyway.

on a thread related topic, i suggest a african brown knifefish, awsome fish.

edit-yeah they do sometimes, if you get a bushynose pleco he wont bother the bichir, but that list was made based off of the thought that you feed your plecos alot of food all the time.

^i think^

Computer Information Systems. Computers are my real hobby, but this fish stuff has recently grabbed my attention and so far it's great!:nilly:

Do you recommend any pleco types? I heard some get to like 24'' long
