is it just me or when you guys introduce new fish into an aquarium do thwy alway stay in the same part of the tank for a few day and then venture out. because i just got some baby redbelly piranhas and they all seem to hide in the one plant. but there is one brave one that will venture out every now and then.

yeah their just getting used to their new enviroment

ditto what the others have said. as the new fish feel more comfortable they will venture out more and more and once completely comfortable they'll be all over the tank. how long the fish take to feel comfortable depends on a lot of things. I've had some fish take as long as 2-3 weeks to feel comfortable and others (my frontosas for example) that took literally less than 10 minutes. :)

Yeah the new fish must get used to the new tank, and usually the other fish also have to get used to the new fish.

Yep that's hot mine act too. Just picked up some baby Geophagus surinamensis yesterday and the have been hiding under some driftwood ever since I introduced them. RBP's are particularly shy though. Even after they have been in the tank for a while they still hide a lot.
