Hey guys im on my way to having my dream predator tank. A few weeks ago I bought my first two oscars. they were about an inch long and by now they doubled that size to two inches. I was wondering when it would be okay to add the neednosed gar into the mix. it is about 7-8 inches and not that aggresive. also going into the tank adventually would be an ornate birchir and a black ghost knivefish. I cant wait for these guys to get bigger and thanks for all the help.

I have no experience with Gar, other than fishing for them, but Id guess that that wont work unless the Oscars are bigger than the Gar.

Wow! Quite a collection! Like Lucky said ^ how big is this tank?

it really depends on what type of needlenose gar u got theres a few types.......... i had a 6 inch oscar bite a 12 inch needlenoes gar in half.............. but they where in a 125 gal............. just get a lot of floating plants so the gar can hide if it needs to..............

not a needlenose because the oscars will get to aggresive if u got a spotted gar or florida gar or maybe some rocket gar / hejuta's it would work but the oscars are to aggresive for the thin bodied needle nose
