New Fish

I just bought a new fish and it is called the 5 spot Jewel cichlid or the 5 Star Jewel Cichlid does anyone have more info on i found that it gets like 6-8 in and can be aggressive but thats all i can find out i just want more info on it please help me

Jewels are African Cichlids and they can be a bit aggressive. You may get some help on this forum, but you will get more in the African Cichlid Forum.

That's also known as a 5 Star General from West Africa. One of the meanest fish I've ever owned.

since you have one or had one can you give me mopre info on them

I had one many years ago and couldn't wait to get rid of it. Do a search for Hemichromis elongatus, there are a couple sub-species I beleave. I'm no expert on them but that should return a bunch of hits and info.

I should add, me wanting to get rid of it is only because I couldn't house it properly to meet it's needs.
