Decided to get rid of the salt. Kind of a pain and i decided to invest my money into things that wont lose money ! lol.

But yeah, this guy is ugly right now but pet store said he is stressed. Even if he doesnt colour up im not to worried. Not to sure if I should even try putting two oscars in there or somethign with him... maybe some bala sharks or idn lol...At the molment hto he has this 125 to himself... The gravel was dirty and sandy so you can see it in the water... Also need to get soem decor in there... but yeah there he is...

no idea on age or anything. dude droped it off at lfs. No info, figured I grab him... I might drop a jag in with him... see how it goes... There is a breeding pair up for sale in my area... so he might be moved to anohter tank.

Nice flowerhorn. With proper care he should brighten up nicely. I can only speak from experience with the 2 flowerhorns I had in the past and they did not go with any fish not even themselves. They had to be kept in their tank with a divider seperating them the tank was also a 125. I don't know if other cichlids are a good mix choice.I suppose ultimately its up to your fishes personality

I kept a flowerhorn in my community tank. I got it at 1" and until it was about 8" it still lived with a severum, snakeskin gourami's, panchax's a red tail shark and some dithers. It was a really peaceful tank and because he grew up with the fish he was peaceful. He obviously wouldn't have stayed in there long term but then I moved countries so I had to sell him, he was a beautiful flowerhorn though, heres a picture

If you change out the black gravel with something much lighter that should improve his color. Black substrate and backgrounds aren't usually recommended for Flowerhorn since it causes them to darken like yours is. Hes a male for sure, so you might get away with adding a female something but its gonna be hit or miss because they generally don't get along well in a community setting.
