Hi everyone,
I had seen this guy at my LFS on various occasions over the last few months. I asked one of the assistants what his story was, it seems people were buying him, taking him home and putting him in their tanks, and later finding dead fish or badly beaten up fish. They were holding him in a section of one the tanks sump
(he was not a happy chappy). Well I just happened to have an MT 55g tank ( just upgraded to a 110g) which held my Oscar, so he went home with me. He is now happier, even lets me put my hand in the tank without freaking out. Only one problem can anyone ID him? (I think maybe Vieja Guttulatum).

Herichthys Bifasciatum. :D

Nice fish.... I have gotten a lot of fish that "will kill anything" for little or no money.... I got a big black belt out of a LFS sump. I keep them in my 265 and they have all done fine! Good luck

very nice looking fish and no surprise it's so aggressive because it looks like it would either be guttulatus or zonatus. it could also be some kind of Vieja/Paratheraps mutt but I'd guess there is definitely one of the 2 species I mentioned mixed in there. :)

I don't think it is a guttulatum because I had a breeding pair. I think it is a zonatum or some sort of vieja hybrid.
