I have a 6" Fl Gar that I purchased last week from John. He has been in the tank since last Thursday and has not eaten. He has had access to live feeders, frozen silversides, pellets, etc. John said they were feeding it feeders and the silversides. I know that some fish need time to acclimate before they are comfortable enough to eat. Today is the 5th day and I was just a little worried.

Is this normal? Tips?

the FLG should come around eventually, and is no danger of starvation at this point. what are the conditions of the tank:
size?
tankmates?
filtration?
water parameters?
temperature?

young gars are still sensitive to water quality, particularly ammo and nitrite, so if those are readable then the fish may refuse to eat. if all of those issues check out in the clear, then just give the fish time and it will come around.--

Parameters are perfect for the most part. No ammonia, no nitrite, and I do weekly changes of 50%. It's a 120 grow out with 1x Fluval 450, 1x XP3, and 2x Penguin 350s. All have established BB and crammed full with extra media. Ph is around 7.5. Temp is 79%.

Tank mates are:
2x 5" Oscar
1x 5" Red Tail Barracuda (which I came home to dieing http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4829281#post4829281 )
1x 4" Pike Cichlid
1x Large Common Pleco
