OH
I received 5, 1/2 inch flowerhorns 5 weeks ago. 3 out of the five are now about 2 inches. There is one dominant fish, he eats more and pushes the rest around.

I am waiting for them to intensify their colors.

If you add large amounts of clove oil to the tank, It is very possible that this might intensify the colors. It really depends on the quality of the original fish. Sometimes it works sometimes not so much, but definately worth a try oh go tell all your hybrid keeping friends about this little tip. lol

nice...i got one about 2" as well...i was onedering if you know of any foods that can help with color?i was reading that there are special foods for flowerhorns...

Oh yeah and to help with this Question, there are some flowerhorn specific foods, the one I hear about being the most amazing is "Chingmix" but it is pricey and hard to find. Use krill to intensify reds, I believe foods high in spirulina algae help to increase the pearls, don't quote me on that, otherwise A great all around food is New Life Spectrum pellets, get some of those, although they can be pricey as well, you wont be disappointed, they are one of the best pellets on the market by a good margin!

Sometimes I enjoy partaking in being a smart @$$ to those that equally diserve it! ;)

Not that anyone agreed with your suggestion of adding clove oil to the tank in the thread, but now I can see where ae2359 got the idea from.

So you would rather support the suggestion of "adding large amounts of clove oil" to a juvenile fish's tank over a change of diet or decor or, hell, letting the fish grow out?
Yeah, logical. :screwy:

Ask and ye shall recieve.

It's not like OP was asking anyone how to make his fish color up faster. I'm sure he understands the simple logic behind very young fish = not as colorful, older fish = colorful. The fish are 2" people.
