Just got this guy last week or so and he seems to be changing color a bunch, lost most of the coloration on it’s gill plates and most of the side stomach area. I know FH have some color morphing over the years, any chance someone could predict what color this will end up? Probably won’t stay white will it? If it helps, it was labeled as a red dragon at the store, but I wouldn’t know either way and picked it up regardless. I’ve been feeding it well with a nice variety between flakes, pellets, bloodworms and mysis shrimp. It eats everything very well. It’s also sitting in a 30 gallon next to my 220 which has a big Midas and Trimac looking right at him, maybe their presence has some effect on its pattern? Just curious if anybody has any info or guesses.

It's a fading red dragon. Eventually it will fade to a golden color with red chest like most faders turn into. Also looks female judging from the black mark on the dorsal fin but time will tell since it's still so small.

I agree, that dorsal spot definitely has me thinking the fish is female. Got her a friend for the meantime. Thanks about the Midas too, that fish is a football.
