i was wondering my new guy is about 5in and has been in the tank for 3 days he is not eating anything i put in for him he just cruises the tank like a oscar just floating around.i thought these fish where more active and have big appetites all he has ate is bloodworm and a bit of krill.he or she is pretty aggressive i had to move my red devil out now he got the tank to himself but just will not eat pellets should i feed every other day get him hungry first?

sounds like he's just getting adjusted to the tank. you could try starving him a couple of days, that always seems to work...
if he eatin bloodworms and krill. wait for a day then just put 1 to 4 pellets till he eats a few then slowly feed him more pellets i did the same for my fish and they now eat the pellets all the time good luck
yeah he is adjusting to his new home. usually takes a week. he will snap out of it. dont worry once he does, his appetite will kick in. My fh attacks the food when he eats. he hits the krill and pellets so hard they fly out the water. sometimes he sticks half his body out of the water to get some food. good luck with your new fh.
mine was like that in the beginning, took two weeks to return to normal. But its skittish again, so far, for a month or so. good luck with yours.
thanks wish i knew if it was male/female it was sold to me as a male by this fish store the owner said he bred them he had a huge male that looked just like mine but with a big hump i didn't see the female he had 3 4-5in he said 2 was female and this one was male but i think this is a female.
