Just got this little guy at my LFS today. Tank has been cycling for 3 weeks on Monday. Tank water is a little low. It is very hard to get a picture of him so I just added the one I got from when he was at the LFS.image.jpgimage.jpgB40A3D3A-F168-4955-BF03-2EF4A39C7444.jpeg

Not a bad looking lil red dragon. Hopefully it's color fills out a bit more once it's fully acclimated to the tank and starts a good healthy diet. Btw what do ya plan on feeding it?

A high quality color enhancing pellet. I’m not supposed to feed tilipia right??

Sorry about the loud noise and bad quality. Worked on a mirror and a ping pong ball. He was very interested in both. Been working on it for a while today. He’s no long afraid of my finger so that’s a plus lol.

It's alright as a treat but not a main diet. I feed mine omega one cichlid pellets&Flakes, spirulina flake food (can't remember the brand), hikari blood parrot formula pellets and hikari gold large floating pellet all as part of their main diet. I also occasionally feed em worms of all different kinds, live endler/guppies and mollies, and every now and then some mysiss shrimp. I even feed thawed pinkie nice to my biggest FH.

Might do mollies and guppies as a treat when family are around. Maybe I’ll breed them in my 10g. I’ll look into some of those brands thank you.

Lol personally I wish I could afford to buy better brands but atleast hikari and omega one are good for the price. As for feeders I would recommend using guppies, allot easier to breed/raise and even at their max size they are still just a nice snack.

Nice FH.Good luck raising him.Mine (he's the one on my avatar) was fed only hikari cichlid bio gold and other hikari cichlid pellets.I used the smaller sinking cichlid pellet when he was smaller then moved onto to cichlid gold and cichlid bio gold.Haven't had much experience with colour enhancing pellets, imo most of them are riddled with hormones and chemicals. It all comes down to the genes of your fish.I'm sure there's better pellets than hikari out there but that's all I too can afford lol.I've fed mine raw shrimp ,i place it in hot water for a few seconds to get rid of any parasites. Most FH keepers swear by a pellet only diet and claim shrimp and other frozen food can mess up fish didn't have any problems with shrimp but i decided to go by the safe route and not feed shrimp anymore.Although he did pass away a few days ago(unrelated causes)
