I recently purchased (3) small flowerhorns, all under one inch in length. What is the best food to get these little guys on? I am currently crushing up hikari pellets and feeding with that? Also, as they grow in the next few months when should i expect to see the agression come out? Im hoping to get lucky with at least 1 male-female combination and bring these little ones up together.

thanks for the help.

hikari pellets are real good.... there are some specialty FH pellets you can purchace later off line... but id stick with the hikari and get some size on them now...

i just recently bought a bunch of 1" FHs from a breeder here on MFK and he tells me to feed them Tetra granules which i am. They're eating it up like pigs! and i'm giving them freeze dried schrimp as treats.

as far as aggression, i'm thinking they're like any other CA cichlids and get aggressive right off the bat, and will escalate as they mature. mine are already flaring/nipping/chasing each other around.

use a variety of foods and plenty of water changes, the bigger your tank the better

aggression will occur pretty much off the bat but once again the bigger your tank the better

variety of pellets is best along with "treats". Chingmix, new life spectrum, hikari, alife, are a few good ones. Krill, raw shrimp, bloodworms, earthworms, crickets etc also.

Variety a must for overall growth and development.
Pellets + Frozen Krill, shrimps, bloodworms + Freeze dried fish products etc.
Prompt partial water change will help a lot.
Good luck with them.
