I do not think ionic red is worth it. It's the most expensive "flowerhorn food". All "flowerhorn foods" are a bit gimmicky if you ask me. Hikari foods and NLS are much better when it comes to nutrition. Not to mention, a lot of knock off fish food and gimmicky stuff isn't uncommon. This is quoted from some of the vendors selling this food "Please Note That The Result Also Depends On Fish Itself." Hell for all you know it could be repackaged food. The ionic brand has been one of the foods i've been most skeptical of. These food brands and names jump out of nowhere all the time.

Most of these "flowerhorn foods" also contain ridiculously high proteins which they make claims that this is the key to the making of trophy fish. Flowerhorns do not need those types of protein levels, as you know, they already have the worst issues with constipation and internal parasites. I don't think they possess the ability to break down these high proteins enough, and with excess protein you begin to shorten the life span of your fish by causing damage to kidneys, or fat that isn't healthy for your fish. Those fish on their products or representing their products are probably "show quality fish" in the first place. Not some random low grade store bought stuff.

No NLS?? Such a good food that I have seen great results with

you can't be 100% sure that any of those foods are doing as they claim unless fed strictly 1 diet for extended periods of time. And even at that, you may have high quality flowerhorns in the first place which result in the color and growth of hump. ALL flowerhorns drastically change from juvie to adulthood regardless of the food they are fed period. It's really hard to discern what food is truly working imo because there's so many variables. My thought process is, if it works well, it's healthy and it costs a fraction of the price, why spend more =P I'd rather take that extra money and buy another fish or tank.

Speciality foods that are supposedly designed to enhance the kok in flowerhorn are nothing more than marketing gimmicks, that are actually designed to capitalize on the ignorance of consumers.
